AT THE WATER’S EDGE:

LIVING LIFE AND LEARNING ALL I CAN ALONG THE WAY

Journey with Me

Hi there! My name is Dana. I created this space as a place to share the things I learn along this journey I call life. I am a Jesus follower, wife, twin mom and dog mom. I work in marketing/sales analytics and I’m a sort of Jane of All Trades, interested in all things nature, gardening, cooking, crafting, traveling, exploring and learning new things. This blog is a conglomeration of my interests, hobbies, life and life lessons. Thanks for stopping by!

Today marks two months (or, 9 weeks) since I first started Humira on December 8, 2011.  If you’ve been following my journey, you know that I’ve been struggling to determine whether or not Humira is doing any better than

  • We recently inherited some new bedroom furniture from my in-laws.  I’m actually pretty excited about it because it’s one of those convertible sets where the “bed” can become either a crib or a full-sized bed.  So, when we need the use of a crib, we have one already.  And, in the meantime, we finally have

  • If a gardener sees her shadow… it must already be spring! Today is Groundhog Day.  Today, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, meaning that we have six more weeks of winter.  I have to say, I always found the workings and presumptions behind Groundhog Day to be a bit perplexing.  Never mind the fact that we’re

  • As a Christian, I often turn to God’s word—the Bible—for encouragement, hope and even direction in life. Living life with an autoimmune disease raises lots of questions and fears, and I have no doubt that many often wonder (as I have done) where God’s hand is in all of this. People that don’t know the

  • A friend of mine once told me that the motto of the #rheum-mates seems to be “we’ll see.”  It’s true.  There are a lot of unknowns with RAD–including how your body and disease will respond to medications–which often coincide with periods of simply waiting.  Wait and see if the treatment works.  Wait and see if

  • This is one of those recipes that I tend to change up a little bit every time. I had always wanted to make my own chicken nuggets, strips, tenders, or whatever you want to call them, and tried out a few different methods. I’ve found that pan-cooking them seems to yield the best results, and

  • The Saga Continues…

I had a bit of déjà vu this week.  If you’ve been following my story, you may recall the start of my “Sed Rate Saga” — my hesitation to get my blood drawn back in November and the immediate call from my doctor’s office after my lab results came in because my inflammation was high.

  • 2011: A Year in Review

It’s a new year, and with that comes a good opportunity to reflect on the past one.  While I don’t typically do New Year’s resolutions, I thought it’d be fun to reminisce a little bit and recap some of my life in 2011.  Last year, we rang the New Year in down in Florida with
